The sea holiday in Tuscany
From Livorno to Bibbona (48 km)
Livorno is the third largest city in Tuscany and home to one of the most important Italian ports. Even today the seafront of the neighborhood “Ardenza” is characterized by elegant seaside resorts from the end dell’8oo when Livorno was one of the few tourist resorts in Europe. Near the center you can enjoy the sea view from the “Terrace Mascagni” in honor of the great composer Pietro Mascagni. This great views of the sea is actually one of the most representative of Livorno and Livorno, a great tribute to the city that is suited to the sea like few others in Europe. The great passion of the people of Livorno is undoubtedly the sea in all its facets: fishing, sailing, surfing, the port and not least … the tan!
Heading south and along the majestic cliffs of Calafuria meet Castiglioncello, “the pearl of the Tyrrhenian Sea”. Charming and romantic place that has always fascinated writers, poets and actors is still considered a place called “exclusive” and always in fashion.
Crossing Go with the features sandy beaches, extensive pine forests and the sea is not deep in Cecina arrives.
Cecina Marina is a tourist destination popular with families in Tuscany, many of which are here secodo home. The town is full of bars and restaurants, is clean, flat and surrounded by pine trees always crowded in summer. And ‘the ideal destination for families with children and lovers of cycling and cycling. One of my personal advice is to rent a bike and follow the pine forest (5 km) which links Marina in Cecina seaside resort. Cycle or walk for an indefinite time in the Pineta breathing in the smell of the sea and pine trees that shade of centuries this part of the Italian coast is one of the most beautiful memories of your vacation in Tuscany.

The Etruscan Coast and Maremma Tuscany
Coming down from Bibbona along the Aurelia highway are the poetic villages of Bolgheri and Castagneto Carducci with their natural outlet to the sea at Marina di Castagneto. Farther south are the resorts of St. Vincent, Baratti and Populonia. This strip of coast called the Etruscan coast for several Etruscan tombs that were found throughout the territory by the sea and also because I know and see the center Populonia, the most ancient Etruscan town near the sea. Populonia is not only ancient but extremely fascinating, is located on the top of the Tuscan hill overlooking the sea and over the nearby island of Elba.
Follonica represents the natural border of Tuscany, the land becomes flat and hills covered with olive groves and vineyards turn into long stretches of vegetables and wheat. The finest beaches and the sea became shallower, giving swimmers the opportunity to take long walks in the sea. There are many wild coves with crystal clear water and fine sand like Cala Violina. Among the tourist destinations of particular value are highlighted Castiglione della Pescaia, quaint seaside town with shops, restaurants and pubs of every kind. Going even further south through the natural park of the Maremma you get to Talamone, a picturesque village overlooking the sea gulf. Talamone is the first of the most “elite” of the Tuscan coast, popular with the rich and noble families of industrial dynasties that these places are in addition to the natural beauty of sea, a discreet and sober where the sea, nature and privacy are the undisputed masters of the territory.
