Among the many activities to promote the Val di Cecina one that has aroused particular interest to me is promoted by a group of cottages Pomarance and Castelnuovo Val di Cecina and which was recently held in Pomarance.
The Association offers a dinner km scratch with a rich variety of dishes based on products closely linked to the territory. Each dish will be cooked by a single farm and everything is presented in a neutral space that recalls the very typical of a festival.
The particularity of this initiative lies in its cohesion of farms that instead of competing products and exchange recipes.

I sincerely believe that this initiative is a wonderful example of marriage between agriculture and tourism, a real culmination of what has been sown by the Region of Tuscany with the publication of Law 30 of 2003.
If the intention of the legislature was the creation of small businesses capable of providing not only accommodation but also the opportunity to bring traditional dishes in a typical country reality, it can be argued that this objective was fully achieved in the Valley Cecina.
In the district that goes from Volterra Pomarance, Castelnuovo Val di Cecina are several small cottages, still family owned where the owners themselves take care of the reception without neglecting the work in the fields. Places are used for hospitality where you can eat directly with the owner who then cook the same, and where you eat the garden produce and homemade jams.
In this context we have reached a perfect balance between standard restaurants with a la carte menu always quite rich, however, offer dishes that respect and catering cottage where the dinner must be booked days in advance and the menu is fixed and traditional, guarantee food cooked really the same day.
